VegaShares offers a new options-driven income strategy with the launch of the VegaShares SPX NDX RTY Premium Income ETF (NASDAQ:ODTE).
The fund’s goal is to deliver consistent weekly payouts by tapping into short-term market volatility.
Launched last week, ODTE deploys a systematic options-writing approach across three major U.S. benchmarks—the S&P 500 Index, Nasdaq-100 Index, and Russell 2000 Index—making it a diversified play on large-cap, tech-heavy, and small-cap segments of the market.
At the core of ODTE's strategy is selling one-day, out-of-the-money call options, allowing the ETF to capture rapid premium decay in ultra-short-dated contracts. Basically, ODTE earns frequent income by selling short-term call options on the S&P 500 Index. If the market doesn't rise above a set level by day-end, the options expire worthless, letting the ETF keep the premium as profit.
VegaShares says its quantitative framework dynamically allocates exposure across the three indexes, balancing volatility signals and income potential to enhance risk-adjusted returns.
Key ODTE Features
- Targets weekly income generation through systematic selling of one-day call options
- Provides exposure across three major equity benchmarks, enhancing diversification
- Uses daily strike resets to mitigate market timing risk and capture new income opportunities
- Employs a quantitative allocation model based on volatility factors to optimize premium vs. risk
- Structured using Section 1256 contracts, offering potential tax advantages with 60/40 capital gains treatment
- Expense ratio is at 0.68%
The launch comes as investors increasingly look beyond traditional dividend strategies, turning instead to options-based ETFs for steady income in a volatile market backdrop.
