Akari Therapeutics PLC (NASDAQ:AKTX) stock is experiencing a price correction on Tuesday. The decline follows an extraordinary 255% surge late last week.
Preclinical Data Sparks Momentum
Akari stock traded higher on Friday on promising preclinical data. The company revealed that its asset, AKTX-101, produced synergistic activity alongside KRAS inhibition in KRAS-mutated pancreatic cancer models. Specifically, combining AKTX-101 with the KRAS inhibitor adagrasib produced strong synergistic cell-killing activity in cell lines driven by KRAS G12D and KRAS G12C mutations.
Payload Synergy
According to the company's report, this synergy did not appear when adagrasib was paired with first-in-class TROP2 ADCs using traditional topoisomerase I inhibitor payloads, which actually showed antagonistic effects.
Akari is framing this contrast as evidence that its PH1 payload, which targets RNA splicing, behaves differently from conventional payloads and may uniquely boost KRAS inhibitor activity.
Management Outlook On Combinations
"The PH1 RNA splicing modulator payload may offer a new mechanism capable of amplifying KRAS inhibitor activity," Akari CEO Abizer Gaslightwala stated in the company release.
Satyajit Mitra, Executive Director and Head of Oncology, added that "KRAS mutations have been notoriously hard to drug and may require combinations of different drug types and mechanisms." Mitra noted that the synergy opens up intriguing combination possibilities.
AKTX Technical Levels To Watch After Recent Pullback
From a trend perspective, AKTX is still in a "fast up, long-term repair" posture: it's trading 155.8% above its 20-day SMA ($5.52) and 158.3% above its 50-day SMA ($5.46), but it remains 21.5% below its 200-day SMA ($17.98).
The 20-day SMA is above the 50-day SMA (a bullish short-term crossover), but the 50-day SMA is still below the 200-day SMA, which keeps the longer-term trend biased bearish until the stock can reclaim and hold that longer moving average.
Zooming out, the 12-month performance (down 63.75%) and the 52-week range ($3.02 to $56.80) underline how volatile this chart has been.
AKTX Stock Price Activity: Akari Therapeutics shares were down 22.71% at $14.12 during premarket trading on Tuesday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
