U.S. stocks traded mostly higher this morning, with the Nasdaq Composite gaining more than 1% on Tuesday.

Following the market opening Tuesday, the Dow traded up 0.02% to 50,587.54 while the NASDAQ gained 1.34% to 26,698.01. The S&P 500 also rose, gaining, 0.80% to 7,533.38.

Leading and Lagging Sectors

Information technology shares jumped by 2.2% on Tuesday.

In trading on Tuesday, consumer staples stocks fell by 1.5%.

Top Headline

The Chicago Fed National Activity Index climbed to +0.14 in April versus a revised reading of –0.15 in March.

  • J-Star Holding Co Ltd (NASDAQ:YMAT) shares shot up 222% to $1.46 after the company announced it received formal authorization from the Central Bank of Taiwan to initiate under the Sovereign-Backed financing framework for its strategic U.S. infrastructure expansion initiative.
  • Shares of Linkage Global Inc (NASDAQ:UZX) got a boost, surging 122% to $0.99 after the company announced an $8 million buyback.
  • Nocera Inc (NASDAQ:NCRA) shares were also up, gaining 88% to $0.46 after the company announced a planned strategic corporate transformation and rebranding initiative centered around the proposed formation of Nocera Holdings.

Equities Trading DOWN

  • Aditxt Inc (NASDAQ:ADTX) shares dropped 44% to $0.29 after dipping around 58% on Friday.
  • Shares of YY Group Holding Ltd (NASDAQ:YYGH) were down 32% to $0.26. The company announced a strategic partnership with Velobotics to advance autonomous facility management capabilities in Southeast Asia.
  • Global Mofy AI Ltd (NASDAQ:GMM) was down, falling 29% to $0.19.

Commodities

In commodity news, oil traded down 4.2% to $92.59 while gold traded down 0.1% at $4,521.50.

Silver traded up 0.3% to $76.45 on Tuesday, while copper rose 0.1% to $6.3875.

Euro zone

European shares were mostly lower today. The eurozone's STOXX 600 fell 0.2%, while Spain's IBEX 35 Index rose 0.1%. London's FTSE 100 rose 0.6%, Germany's DAX fell 0.5%, while France's CAC 40 dipped 0.7%.

Asia Pacific Markets

Asian markets closed lower on Tuesday, with Japan's Nikkei 225 falling 0.25%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index declining 0.03%, China's Shanghai Composite falling 0.17% and India's BSE Sensex declining 0.63%

Economics

  • The S&P Cotality Case-Shiller Home Price Index increased 0.8% year-over-year in March, following a 0.9% gain in February.
  • The Chicago Fed National Activity Index climbed to +0.14 in April versus a revised reading of –0.15 in March.
