Novo Nordisk A/S (NYSE:NVO) on Monday presented results from its Phase 3 REIMAGINE 1-3 trials, showing that investigational treatment CagriSema significantly reduced both HbA1c and body weight in adults with Type 2 diabetes.

The once-weekly therapy combines a novel amylin analog with a GLP-1 receptor agonist. Across all three studies, CagriSema met the primary endpoint of reducing HbA1c and achieved confirmatory secondary endpoints related to weight loss.

The company evaluated CagriSema at doses of 2.4 mg/2.4 mg and 1 mg/1 mg administered once weekly. Results demonstrated significant improvements in blood sugar control and body weight compared with study comparators.

Zenagamtide Shows Dose-Dependent Benefits

On Saturday, Novo Nordisk also shared new Phase 2 data for investigational drug zenagamtide, also known as amycretin.

The study met its primary endpoint, showing improvements in HbA1c across all tested doses after 36 weeks. It also achieved a key supportive secondary endpoint related to body weight reduction for doses of 1.5 mg and higher versus placebo.

From a baseline HbA1c of 7.8%, participants receiving zenagamtide experienced dose-dependent and statistically significant reductions through week 36. The largest reduction was observed with the 40 mg dose, which produced an estimated mean HbA1c change of negative 1.71%.

Up to 89.1% of participants achieved HbA1c levels below 7%, while as many as 76.2% reached levels at or below 6.5%.

Participants receiving the 40 mg dose also recorded mean bodyweight reductions of up to 14.6%, compared with 2.1% for placebo. Novo Nordisk said no apparent weight-loss plateau was observed by week 36 at higher doses.

The company plans to begin a Phase 3 development program for zenagamtide in adults with Type 2 diabetes during the second half of 2026.

Semaglutide Data And Wegovy Prescription Milestone

Novo Nordisk additionally presented real-world evidence evaluating adults with Type 2 diabetes treated with semaglutide 1 mg. The analysis compared escalation to semaglutide 2 mg with switching to tirzepatide from Eli Lilly and Co. (NYSE:LLY).

After one year, both groups achieved similar rates of HbA1c below 7%. However, patients receiving semaglutide 2 mg showed a statistically significant advantage in achieving at least 5% weight loss compared with those who switched to tirzepatide.

Separately, Novo Nordisk announced Sunday that Wegovy (semaglutide) tablets 25 mg surpassed three million prescriptions in just over five months.

The company said the milestone equates to roughly one prescription being filled every five seconds since the product’s January 2026 launch.

NVO Stock Price Activity: Novo Nordisk shares were down 1.05% at $42.51 during premarket trading on Monday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
