Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) will be rolling out an update for the Cybertruck that would let owners summon the all-electric truck over short distances.

Actually Smart Summon On Cybertruck

In a post on X on Tuesday, Tesla’s official handle reposted a video of a Cybertruck being driven autonomously through a parking lot. “Summon for Cybertruck rolling out shortly,” the post said.

The video showed the Cybertruck navigating the parking lot using the Actually Smart Summon feature. The truck also stopped at an intersection in the parking lot to let a cyclist pass through before turning.

Actually Smart Summon Cleared By NHTSA

The system was under investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) following reports of multiple minor incidents and property damage. The agency closed the probe, which would’ve affected over 2.59 million Tesla vehicles.

The feature allows the vehicles to drive autonomously through parking lots or short distances, but the vehicles need to be constantly monitored by owners via the Smartphone app.

Notably, Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology still faces scrutiny from NHTSA. Recently, the agency moved its investigation to the Engineering Analysis phase, a stage that usually precedes a recall, according to the law.

Tesla Netherlands FSD Data

Tesla also received approval for the FSD technology from the Netherlands Vehicle Authority (RDW) earlier this year. The EV giant’s official Europe, Middle East And Africa handle, in a post on X on Tuesday, shared that data collected by the company showed that Supervised FSD-enabled driving was “over 3x safer than manual driving on Dutch roads.”

The post also shared a picture with statistics, including almost 15x fewer automatic emergency braking events and 8x fewer instances of hard swerves, Tesla said.

According to Benzinga Edge Rankings, Tesla offers excellent Growth and Quality, but satisfactory Momentum. Tesla also fails to provide a favorable price trend in the short, medium, and long term.

Price Action: Tesla shares were down 4.72% to $389.64 during premarket trading on Wednesday.
