Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.) introduced his "Aging With AI Act" to study how artificial intelligence (AI) tools, including chatbots, were affecting older adults and to better understand the technology’s potential benefits and risks.
Kelly’s AI Safety Push For Seniors
On Tuesday, in a post on X, Kelly said, "There are 1.5 million Arizonans over 60, and AI is becoming part of their daily lives"
He added, "My Aging with AI Act will study how AI tools, including chatbots, affect older adults."
Kelly said gathering more data would help policymakers better understand the benefits and potential dangers of AI adoption among seniors.
He said, "With more data, we can better understand both the opportunities and the risks, like scams and fraud."
Meta And Zoom Tackle AI Trust Challenges
Earlier, Meta Platforms Inc. (NASDAQ:META) continued working to strengthen its AI and messaging platforms amid concerns over progress and online safety.
Separately, Zoom Communications Inc (NASDAQ:ZM) partnered with Sam Altman-backed identity verification network World to combat deepfakes and improve trust in virtual meetings through human identity verification.
Zoom’s new verification feature uses World’s World ID Deep Face technology, combining image matching, real-time face scans and live video checks to confirm users and display a "Verified Human" badge.
Tools for Humanity executive Trevor Traina said the partnership aims to address growing identity concerns as AI makes it harder to distinguish real people from synthetic identities.
Meanwhile, Meta faced scrutiny over its AI efforts and WhatsApp’s upcoming username feature, with critics raising concerns about potential cybercrime risks.
The company said the update would improve privacy while adding safeguards against scams, impersonation and abuse.
