Amkor Technology Inc. (NASDAQ:AMKR) shares are trading higher Friday after the company announced a multi-year strategic partnership with NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) to develop advanced semiconductor packaging and test technologies for AI and accelerated computing platforms.

Nvidia–Amkor $1.5B Pact Boosts AI Packaging

Under the agreement, valued at $1.5 billion, Nvidia will provide a prepayment to support the expansion of Amkor’s U.S. advanced packaging capacity in Arizona, complementing the company’s established manufacturing footprint across Asia. The two companies will align their long-term roadmaps to advance technologies including high-density interconnects and next-generation heterogeneous integration — capabilities that enable the performance, energy efficiency, and system-level integration required for AI infrastructure.

Amkor has already supplied advanced packaging solutions supporting Nvidia platforms across data center processors, networking chipsets, and accelerated computing systems. The expanded partnership is designed to bring new technologies to market at scale as AI infrastructure demand grows, while strengthening domestic semiconductor manufacturing and supply-chain resilience.

“This strategic partnership with NVIDIA underscores the central role advanced packaging plays in enabling the future of AI,” said Kevin Engel, CEO of Amkor Technology. “Our agreement with NVIDIA accelerates our long-term roadmap and supports our ability to deliver full turnkey advanced packaging and test solutions.”
