Meta Platforms Inc. (NASDAQ:META) stock traded higher on Monday following several operational updates and strategic announcements released by the company. The Nasdaq is up 0.15% while the S&P 500 has gained 0.17%.

Zuckerberg Outlines $145B AI Infrastructure Strategy

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg published a 6,500-word essay on Monday outlining the company’s strategy to make advanced artificial intelligence broadly accessible.

The company expects capital expenditures to reach between $130 billion and $145 billion in 2026 to fund data centers and infrastructure. The company previously reported spending $31.1 billion on capital expenditures in the second quarter.

Financial Metrics and Operations

For the second quarter, Meta reported a 28% year-over-year increase in revenue to $60.8 billion, alongside a 55% rise in operating expenses. Free cash flow stood at $784 million, compared to $8.55 billion in the prior-year period.

The company ended June with $90.3 billion in cash, cash equivalents, and marketable securities. Additionally, Meta Family of Apps reached 3.6 billion daily active people in June. In May, the company laid off over 8,000 workers, representing approximately 10% of its workforce.

Launch of Muse Glimmer AI Model

Separately, on Monday, Meta introduced Muse Glimmer, a 30-billion-parameter open-source AI model released under an Apache 2.0 license on Hugging Face.

The model is designed to run locally on personal computers using a single consumer graphics processing unit. Zuckerberg also noted that the company plans to release a Muse Spark 1.2 model.

Community Initiatives and Governance

Meta announced the Future Is For Everyone Fund to support local data center communities. The company also introduced America’s Workforce Academy for skilled trade training and confirmed its goal to be water-positive by 2030.

Furthermore, the company is implementing a governance structure that grants its independent board of directors authority to approve safety criteria for model releases.
