Babcock & Wilcox Enterprises, Inc. (NYSE:BW) shares are up during Tuesday’s premarket session, trading higher by over 35% after the company reported strong second-quarter results after market close on Monday.
Today, the company inked a deal with Siemens AG (OTC:SIEGY) tied to fast-track steam turbine work aimed at powering data centers.
New Agreement with Siemens Energy
Babcock & Wilcox penned a deal with Siemens Energy to begin work on 20 steam turbine generator sets, each rated at 50 MW, for a combined 1 GW of capacity under B&W’s FastPower program for data center projects.
The agreement builds on a previously announced turbine order and positions B&W to support accelerated power demand from AI data centers and large-scale generation projects.
The release points to AI data centers and large-scale power generation projects as key drivers of rising energy demand.

Critical Price Levels for BW Stock to Watch
With futures modestly higher, BW’s outsized premarket jump reads as primarily stock-specific, with traders reacting to the scale (20 units) and the implied demand signal around data-center power buildouts.
At around $12.12, the stock is trading 24% above its 20-day SMA ($9.81), but 5.7% below its 50-day SMA ($12.90) and 18.2% below its 100-day SMA ($14.86), which frames this as a sharp rebound inside a still-choppy intermediate trend. It’s also 8.3% above the 200-day SMA ($11.23), keeping the longer-term uptrend argument intact even after the mid-year pullback.
MACD is the cleaner momentum read here: it’s above its signal line with a positive histogram, which suggests upside pressure is improving versus the prior downswing. In plain terms, MACD being above the signal line often means sellers are losing control, even if price still has overhead resistance to work through.
The moving-average structure is mixed: the 20-day SMA remains below the 50-day SMA (bearish near-term alignment), while the 50-day SMA is above the 200-day SMA (a golden-cross backdrop that began in August 2025). Key turning points to keep in mind are the recent swing high in May and swing low in July, which define the current "recovery vs. retest" battleground.
- Key Support: $10.00 — a nearby level where buyers previously stepped in (tie it to the 52-week low zone, a moving average, or a recent pivot zone if supported by the data above).
Babcock & Wilcox Benzinga Edge Scorecard Overview
Below is the Benzinga Edge scorecard for Babcock & Wilcox Enterprises, highlighting its strengths and weaknesses compared to the broader market:
- Momentum: Bullish (Score: 99.13) — The stock is showing strong relative strength, consistent with its outsized 12-month run and the current premarket surge.
The Verdict: Babcock & Wilcox Enterprises’s Benzinga Edge signal reveals a momentum-driven story, with price action doing most of the talking right now. For longer-term investors, the key question is whether this catalyst helps sustain demand expectations enough to reclaim the 50-day and 100-day trend levels rather than fading back toward support.
BW Price Action: Babcock & Wilcox shares were up 35.14% at $12.00 during premarket trading on Tuesday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
