U.S. stocks traded mixed midway through trading, with the Nasdaq Composite gaining more than 150 points on Thursday.

The Dow traded down 0.16% to 53,682.87 while the NASDAQ rose 0.61% to 26,749.51. The S&P 500 also rose, gaining, 0.45% to 7,783.09.

Leading and Lagging Sectors

Real estate shares jumped by 1.2% on Thursday.

In trading on Thursday, energy stocks fell by 1%.

Top Headline

Shares of Cisco Systems Inc. (NASDAQ:CSCO) fell around 8% on Thursday after the company reported financial results for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026.

Cisco reported fourth-quarter revenue of $17.25 billion, beating analyst estimates of $16.82 billion, according to Benzinga Pro. The networking equipment company reported adjusted earnings of $1.22 per share for the quarter, beating analyst estimates of $1.17 per share.

Cisco guided for fiscal year 2027 revenue of $72.2 billion to $73.4 billion versus estimates of $68.69 billion. The company also guided for full-year adjusted earnings of $5.05 to $5.11 per share, versus estimates of $4.80 per share.

Equities Trading UP
           

  • Accelerant Holdings (NYSE:ARX) shares shot up 44% to $19.52 after the specialty insurance company agreed to be acquired by Thoma Bravo and reported better-than-expected second-quarter 2026 results.
  • Shares of DEFSEC Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:DFSC) got a boost, surging 107% to $2.56 after the company reported third-quarter financial results.
  • FGI Industries Ltd (NASDAQ:FGI) shares were also up, gaining 70% to $8.05 after the company reported better-than-expected second-quarter adjusted EPS results and issued FY26 sales guidance with its midpoint above estimates.

Equities Trading DOWN

  • Leslie’s Inc (NASDAQ:LESL) shares dropped 39% to $0.81 after the company reported worse-than-expected third-quarter financial results and withdrew its FY26 guidance.
  • Shares of Cellebrite DI Ltd (NASDAQ:CLBT) were down 36% to $9.70 after the company reported worse-than-expected second-quarter sales results and issued weak third-quarter sales guidance.
  • Securitize Corp (NYSE:SECZ) was down, falling 23% to $6.08 after the company reported worse-than-expected quarterly financial results.

Commodities

In commodity news, oil traded down 0.9% to $82.57 while gold traded down 1% at $4,422.60.

Silver traded down 1.3% to $64.82 on Thursday, while copper fell 0.1% to $6.6115.

Euro zone

European shares were mixed today. The eurozone’s STOXX 600 gained 0.2%, while Spain’s IBEX 35 Index rose 0.4% London’s FTSE 100 fell 0.3%, Germany’s DAX gained 0.2%, while France’s CAC 40 fell 0.1%.

Asia Pacific Markets

Asian markets closed mixed on Thursday, with Japan’s Nikkei 225 gaining 1.16%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index falling 0.17%, China’s Shanghai Composite declining 0.50% and India’s BSE Sensex rising 0.15%.

Economics

  • The Producer Price Index (PPI) was unchanged in July, coming in below the 0.2% monthly rebound economists expected after June’s upwardly revised 0.1% decline, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Thursday.
  • U.S. initial jobless claims rose by 9,000 to 209,000 in the first week of August, compared to market estimates of 202,000.
