Wix.com Ltd. (NASDAQ:WIX) stock fell nearly 7% on Friday as investors pulled back from growth-oriented technology stocks. The Nasdaq fell 0.48%, while the S&P 500 lost 0.25%. The technology sector dropped about 0.8%.
Software Stocks Face Valuation Pressure
Software stocks also faced pressure Friday amid uncertainty surrounding reports that Silver Lake was in talks to take Workday, Inc. (NASDAQ:WDAY) private for as much as $43 billion. The reports surfaced Thursday, but no one has publicly confirmed a potential deal.
The speculation has drawn attention to depressed valuations across the software-as-a-service industry.
“We’re in the SaaSpocalypse,” Constellation Research CEO Ray Wang said in a CNBC interview Thursday. “Pricing is actually undervalued. The PE ratios have come down so hard, but guess what? If you’re in the SaaS business, you’ve got data, you’ve got distribution, you’re still gonna win.”
Aristeia Capital Exits Wix Stake
Separately, Aristeia Capital has fully exited its investment in Wix, reducing its beneficial ownership to zero shares. A Schedule 13G amendment filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday showed that the hedge fund held no Wix shares as of June 30, 2026.
Technical Analysis
Wix also entered Friday after a strong rebound from its June low. The stock is now approaching its 200-day moving average, which could prompt some investors to take profits.
Wix remains below a key long-term trend line. The stock is trading 5.5% below its 200-day simple moving average of $79.16.
However, its shorter-term trend remains stronger. Wix is 24.4% above its 20-day SMA of $60.16 and 42.4% above its 50-day SMA of $52.55.
That creates a split technical picture. The stock has strong short-term momentum but remains below its longer-term trend.
The moving average convergence divergence indicator also shows improving momentum. The MACD is above its signal line, while the histogram is positive. That suggests buyers have gained some control of the near-term trend.
The moving averages tell a similar story. The 20-day SMA is above the 50-day SMA, which is a bullish short-term signal. However, the 50-day SMA remains below the 200-day SMA, pointing to a weaker longer-term setup.
Wix established a swing low in June and a swing high in August. The stock later broke below support in August.
Key resistance sits near $80.50, close to the 200-day moving average. Support is around $60.50, near the 20-day moving average and a previous demand zone.
Analyst Outlook
Wix carries a Buy consensus rating with an average price forecast of $85.42.
Recent analyst actions include UBS maintaining a Neutral rating and raising its price forecast to $66 on Aug. 5. Benchmark maintained a Buy rating and raised its forecast to $90. RBC Capital maintained a Sector Perform rating and raised its forecast to $60.
Benzinga Edge Rankings
The Benzinga Edge scorecard gives Wix a Momentum score of 54.45, placing the stock in neutral territory.
The reading reflects the stock’s mixed setup. Wix has rebounded sharply from its lows but remains below an important longer-term resistance area.
A move above $80.50 could strengthen the bullish case. Holding above the $60.50 support area would help preserve the recent rebound.
WIX Price Action
Wix shares were down 6.97% at $74.48 at the time of publication Friday, according to Benzinga Pro.
