Marvell Technology Inc. (NASDAQ:MRVL) stock is trading about 3% lower in Thursday’s premarket session as investors pull back from high-valuation chip stocks. Nasdaq futures are down 0.89%, while S&P 500 futures have fallen 0.60%.
Marvell shares remain sharply higher over the past year. As a result, Thursday’s decline appears to reflect broader risk-off sentiment rather than a clear break in the stock’s longer-term trend.
Investors are also looking ahead to Marvell’s earnings report on Aug. 27. The results and outlook could provide the next major catalyst for the stock.

Marvell is trading 11.4% above its 20-day simple moving average of $206.19 and 13.8% above its 100-day SMA of $201.82. However, the stock is 2.1% below its 50-day SMA of $234.48.
Momentum indicators are improving. The moving average convergence divergence, or MACD, is above its signal line, while the histogram is positive. That suggests recent selling pressure may be easing.
The moving-average picture remains mixed. The 20-day SMA is below the 50-day SMA, signaling short-term weakness. However, the 50-day SMA remains above the 200-day SMA of $143.55. That keeps the longer-term bullish trend intact.
