As the broader cryptocurrency market recovers, memecoins are gaining momentum too—and the Official Trump (CRYPTO: TRUMP) token has outpaced some of the ecosystem’s established names.
TRUMP Gets the Better of DOGE and SHIB
As shown, Official Trump is up 57% since the start of the month, and most of that move happened in just the last seven days.
Dogecoin (CRYPTO: DOGE) and Shiba Inu (CRYPTO: SHIB), the two biggest memecoins by market capitalization, both lagged behind TRUMP coin, rising 24% and 7% respectively since August began.
TRUMP recorded a 57% jump in open interest over the past week to $188.72 million, as the token’s spot price momentum drove increased derivatives trading, according to Coinglass.
| Cryptocurrency | 7-Day Gains +/- | Month-to-Date Gains +/- | Year-to-Date Gains +/- | Price (Recorded at 4:00 a.m. ET) |

| Dogecoin | +16.56% | +24.84% | -25.71% | $0.08714 |

TRUMP Remains a Long-Term Laggard
Despite short-term movements, TRUMP coin has underperformed DOGE and SHIB over the longer term and year-to-date.
The TRUMP memecoin was launched just before Trump’s presidential inauguration in January 2025. The token surged to an all-time high shortly after launch, only to lose 97% of its value.
The total memecoin market cap has increased from $23.38 billion at the start of August to $30.64 billion, representing a 31% gain.
