J.M. Smucker Co (NYSE:SJM) on Wednesday reported better-than-expected first-quarter financial results and raised its FY27 guidance above estimates.
JM Smucker reported quarterly earnings of $3.24 per share which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $2.22 per share. The company reported quarterly sales of $2.219 billion which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $2.131 billion.
J.M. Smucker raised its fiscal 2027 adjusted earnings guidance to $10.50 to $11 per share from $9.75 to $10.25. The company also lifted its sales forecast to between $8.87 billion and $8.96 billion from $8.69 billion to $8.78 billion. Both forecasts exceeded estimates of $10.05 per share and $8.76 billion, respectively.
“Our first quarter results exceeded our expectations for both net sales and adjusted earnings per share, demonstrating continued momentum across the Company,” said Mark Smucker, Chief Executive Officer, President and Chair of the Board. “Our performance reflects the strength of our differentiated portfolio, disciplined execution against our strategic priorities, and the investments we continue to make in our brands and capabilities.”
J.M. Smucker shares gained 1.3% to trade at $132.53 on Thursday.

- Evercore ISI Group analyst David Palmer maintained the stock with an Outperform rating and raised the price target from $125 to $150.
- Wells Fargo analyst Chris Carey maintained the stock with an Overweight rating and raised the price target from $129 to $144.
- RBC Capital analyst Nik Modi maintained the stock with an Outperform rating and raised the price target from $135 to $150.
