BlackBerry Limited (NYSE:BB) stock moved higher Thursday following a product integration announcement from its software business.
Its QNX division revealed support for the Hailo-8 AI Accelerator on QNX Software Development Platform 8.0.
The Nasdaq is up 1.06% while the S&P 500 has gained 0.60%. Today’s push looks tied to a broad bid in Technology (up 2.53%) alongside a market tape where most sectors are red, making relative strength in tech stand out.
Hardware Partnership
The technical update broadens hardware choices for engineers building artificial intelligence edge devices.
QNX software operates in mission-critical applications across robotics, healthcare, and software-defined vehicles, serving nine of the top ten medical device manufacturers.
Performance Benchmarks
According to joint benchmarking conducted on a Raspberry Pi 5, running AI workloads on QNX OS compared to real-time Linux delivered up to 14x greater performance consistency, 2.6 times tighter latency distribution, 4.1% higher throughput, and 3.9% lower average latency.
Technical Analysis
From a trend perspective, BB is still in a mixed zone: it’s trading 2% below its 20-day SMA ($8.51) and 10.9% below its 50-day SMA ($9.36), but it remains 4.3% above its 100-day SMA ($8.00) and 41.8% above its 200-day SMA ($5.88). That combination often shows a longer-term uptrend (helped by the 200-day) that’s been cooling in the intermediate term (pressure under the 50-day).
RSI is the cleaner momentum read right now, sitting at 46.66, which points to neutral momentum rather than an overbought chase. In plain English, RSI helps gauge whether a move is getting “stretched,” and this level suggests BB has room to move either way without being technically extended.
- Key Resistance: $9.50 — a round-number area near the 50-day zone where prior rebounds can stall
- Key Support: $8 — lines up closely with the 100-day SMA area, a spot that often attracts dip-buyers
BB Stock Price Activity: BlackBerry shares were up 6.61% to $8.30 at the time of publication on Thursday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
