Salesforce Inc. (NYSE:CRM) stock experienced a minor downward consolidation on Friday. The pullback follows a natural profit-taking routine and sector consolidation after the stock registered a 22.5% surge on Thursday. Nasdaq futures are down 0.08% while S&P 500 futures have gained 0.14%.
Analyst Target Price Adjustments
Following the previous day’s gains, Wall Street firms updated their price forecast on Thursday. Citigroup maintained a Neutral rating and raised its price target to $233. JPMorgan kept an Overweight rating and raised its forecast to $265, while Mizuho kept an Outperform rating and raised its forecast to $265.
Quarterly Earnings Exceed Expectations
Salesforce posted its fiscal second-quarter results on Thursday, recording an 11% year-over-year revenue increase to $11.35 billion, topping analyst forecasts of $11.32 billion. Adjusted earnings per share reached $5.90, exceeding consensus estimates of $3.27.
Anthropic Partnership Expands Integrations
The Thursday rally gained further momentum after Salesforce and Anthropic introduced an expanded enterprise product called Claudeforce. CNBC reported that the tool allows sales personnel to pull Salesforce records and run tasks directly within Anthropic‘s Claude chatbot.
Anthropic co-founder Dario Amodei told CNBC that the company invested “a huge amount of effort” into managing data access, adding that both firms are establishing “Enterprise Frontier Safeguards” to ensure data privacy.
Technical Setup
From a trend standpoint, CRM is still acting strong: at $249.19, it’s trading 24.3% above its 20-day SMA ($199.98) and 24.2% above its 200-day SMA ($200.25), which tells you the intermediate uptrend has been powerful.
RSI is the cleanest momentum read right now, and at 80.30 it’s firmly overbought. On the moving-average structure, the 20-day SMA is above the 50-day SMA (bullish), but the 50-day SMA remains below the 200-day SMA (a lingering bearish longer-term backdrop), so the stock is still working to fully "repair" the long-term trend.
CRM Stock Price Activity: Salesforce shares were down 1.04% at $249.44 during premarket trading on Friday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
