Take-Two Interactive Software Inc. (NASDAQ:TTWO) officially priced Grand Theft Auto VI at $79.99. So far, almost nobody preordering the game wants that version.

Sensor Tower estimates that 89% of GTA VI preorders are for the $99.99 Ultimate Edition, including 90% on Xbox and 88.5% on PlayStation, ahead of the game’s planned Nov. 19 launch.

The demand looks extraordinary, but the launch date still carries some risk. Kalshi traders currently put the chance of GTA VI slipping into December or later at 9%, with more than $4.5 million traded on the market.

GTA VI Buyers Are Paying $98

Premium editions typically account for just 10% to 20% of preorders, according to Sensor Tower. Karl Kontus, who runs the firm’s video game insights unit, said he had “never seen a 90% premium share before.”

At an 89% Ultimate mix, GTA VI’s blended sticker price works out to roughly $98.

Premium editions often entice buyers with several days of early access, but GTA VI does not. Take-Two says both editions launch on Nov. 19, with the $99.99 Ultimate Edition instead offering premium vehicles, weapons, apparel and other in-game content.

One caveat: buyers this far out skew hardcore. Kontus expects the split to move closer to 50/50 as more casual players arrive nearer to launch.

Take-Two Isn’t Declaring Victory Yet

CEO Strauss Zelnick has called preorder demand “unprecedented” and “astonishing,” yet Take-Two has held its fiscal 2027 bookings outlook at $8 billion to $8.2 billion, below the roughly $8.86 billion analysts expected.

His reasoning is simple: a preorder is not a completed sale, customers can cancel, and the company does not want to extrapolate an early surge into final demand.

The caution is understandable. GTA VI has already been delayed twice, first from fall 2025 to May 2026 and then to Nov. 19. But Rockstar now appears firmly in launch mode, with preorders open and Thursday’s 27-minute extended look drawing a positive early reception after premiering on Netflix.

Polymarket gives a 21% chance of another trailer being released by the end of September.

The bullish signal for Take-Two isn’t merely that people want GTA VI. It’s that its most committed customers are overwhelmingly choosing to pay $20 more for it.
