Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) shares are jumping Monday ahead of the company’s Cybercab launch event, scheduled for Thursday in Austin, Texas.

Tesla Set to Hold Exclusive Cybercab Launch Event

Tesla is preparing to host an invite-only event unveiling Cybercab in Austin this week, according to a graphic the company shared on X featuring the vehicle’s silhouette. Tesla signaled the countdown to launch has entered its final stretch over the weekend.

The two-seat Cybercab has no steering wheel or pedals and leverages Tesla’s AI4 computer for full autonomy. A concept version of the vehicle was first unveiled in October 2024, when 20 prototypes gave short rides to attendees at a Tesla event. The vehicle is set to join the driverless Robotaxi fleet Tesla has operated in Austin since June 2025.

Investors will be watching the price tag closely, with Tesla CEO Elon Musk previously saying that it would cost around $30,000. Predictions markets are only giving an 18% chance that the vehicles will come in at $30,000 or below.

Tesla has indicated the Cybercab is only the first of several purpose-built robotaxi models it plans to introduce, with a Robovan cited as another example in the pipeline.

Tesla Stock Battles Longer-Term Averages

Tesla shares are running about 7% above their 20-day average and roughly 1.4% above their 50-day average, a near-term improvement that’s taken hold since the stock’s low point in July. The longer-term averages tell a different story, however, with the stock still sitting around 4.3% under its 100-day average and nearly 9% beneath its 200-day mark, levels that often introduce selling pressure unless a clean break can be made.

Momentum readings paint a somewhat brighter picture. The MACD line has climbed above its own signal line and the histogram has turned positive, suggesting the recent downward pressure is easing even if the broader trend hasn’t fully reversed course. The catch is that the underlying structure hasn’t caught up yet: the 20-day average remains below the 50-day, and an April death cross, when the 50-day slipped under the 200-day, still leaves that higher territory looking like a wall of supply waiting to be tested.

Given that setup, the next price levels are likely to matter more than usual. Resistance sits at $366.50, a nearby zone just above current trading levels where past rebounds have lost momentum, while support comes in at $297.50, close to the stock’s 52-week low, an area where selling has previously found a floor.
