A Delaware jury on Friday handed 10x Genomics Inc. (NASDAQ:TXG) a significant legal victory, ruling that a subsidiary of Qiagen N.V. (NYSE:QGEN) willfully infringed three exclusively licensed patents.

The federal court jury found that Parse Biosciences violated three patents currently held by Scale Biosciences, which 10x Genomics acquired in 2025.

The jury validated all three patents, which originally stem from an exclusive licensing agreement with Roche Sequencing Solutions, outright dismissing Parse’s claims against their validity and enforceability.

Damages and Future Legal Action

As a direct result of the jury ruling, 10x Genomics will receive a compensation package of over $4.8 million in damages.

The monetary amount stems from a court-mandated 14% royalty rate applied to Parse’s Evercode Whole Transcriptome product sales spanning from February 2021 through June 30, 2026.

Following the trial’s conclusion, 10x Genomics plans to aggressively pursue a permanent U.S. injunction to halt further infringement by Parse, along with formal requests for attorney fees and enhanced damages for the willful nature of the infringement.

Analyst Weighs In On The Verdict

William Blair on Monday wrote that this was a win for 10x, with more potentially to follow should the company’s efforts to seek further damages and a permanent injunction against Parse prove successful.

For Qiagen, while the damages are fairly immaterial and analyst Matt Larew expects off-ramps, including appeals, settlements, and redesigns, to be considered, this would dampen what has been a nice acquisition for the company (Parse was running ahead of its $40 million target for 2026).

Regardless, the analyst expects the story to continue to play out into 2027 and possibly beyond.

In May 2025, 10x Genomics settled with Bruker Corporation (NASDAQ:BRKR), resolving all outstanding worldwide patent litigation and disputes between the two companies.

As part of the settlement, 10x expects that Bruker will pay $68 million in equal quarterly installments between the third quarter of 2025 and the second quarter of 2026, as well as ongoing royalties on sales of its spatial biology products through the life of the licensed patents.

TXG Price Action: 10x Genomics shares were down 1.14% at $60.84 at the time of publication on Monday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
