Shares of bioAffinity Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:BIAF) are surging Wednesday morning as traders digest recent commercial expansion announcements alongside tight low-float trading dynamics.
The micro-cap biotechnology stock has seen sharp price swings following the company’s disclosure broadening the commercial application of its flagship CyPath Lung diagnostic test, compounded by a recent share consolidation.
Here’s what investors need to know.
- bioAffinity Technologies stock is showing exceptional strength. What’s fueling BIAF momentum?
Expanding CyPath Lung Indications and Federal Distribution Channels
The primary operational catalyst behind the recent trading activity was bioAffinity’s announcement on Tuesday, positioning CyPath Lung for post-curative surveillance to monitor lung cancer recurrence in survivors.
Expanding the test’s addressable market beyond initial risk assessment enables physicians to utilize the noninvasive diagnostic alongside routine imaging when new pulmonary nodules appear.
The commercial expansion builds directly on an Aug. 18 nationwide federal healthcare distribution agreement signed with AvMEDICAL, which opened direct contracting channels to sell CyPath Lung across Veterans Affairs hospitals and military medical systems.
Commercial Momentum and Recent Reverse Stock Split
Operational momentum is further underscored by the company’s second-quarter updates from August 7, which showed a 216% year-over-year surge in CyPath Lung test volume and a 122% increase in ordering physician offices. However, investors are balancing top-line growth against balance sheet and trading structure constraints.
A 1-for-15 reverse stock split executed on August 24 to maintain Nasdaq listing compliance reduced bioAffinity’s outstanding common stock to approximately 592,373 shares, creating a low float that amplifies daily price volatility.
