Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) criticized President Donald Trump, pointing to record-high fuel prices amid the ongoing war in Iran, as well as the uncertainty over the movement of oil through the Strait of Hormuz.
Gas Rationing Under Trump
In a post on X on Monday, Newsom slammed Trump over rising fuel costs as he quoted a post that pointed to Energy Secretary Chris Wright‘s comments during an interview with ABC on Sunday, saying that prices will come down and demand for gas will cool as the summer driving season draws to a close.
“Gas rationing has arrived in Trump’s America. Great work, Chairman Donald!” Newsom said in his post, slamming Wright’s comments.
Newsom’s Press Office handle took to the social media platform X, quoting a post by Ivanka Trump, who shared a video of her riding a horse on a beach. “Ok,” the post said, sharing a screen capture of a headline that pointed to record-high gas prices during the Labor Day weekend.
Marjorie Taylor Greene Points To $8 Diesel
Former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene slammed Trump amid escalating tensions between the U.S. and Iran, which have caused fuel costs to surge across pumps in America. Greene pointed to surging diesel costs, saying that the price of a gallon of diesel was nearing $8 in California.
Meanwhile, risk analyst Brett Erickson said that Trump’s hold over the oil market was fading and that Iran “clearly intends to sink” him in the midterm elections in November. “Trump has no real power to jawbone the markets anymore,” he added.
