On Tuesday, clinical-stage biotechnology company Evommune Inc. (NYSE:EVMN) announced topline results from its dose-ranging Phase 2b trial assessing oral EVO756 for moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis.
Phase 2b Clinical Trial Findings
The study evaluated the efficacy and safety profile of oral EVO756, a Mas-related G-protein coupled receptor X2 antagonist.
The trial enrolled 121 adult patients with moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis over an active 12-week treatment period, with researchers monitoring participants through Week 14.
The experimental drug failed to reach both its primary and secondary endpoints across all tested dose levels.
The biotechnology firm decided that it would not move EVO756 forward for atopic dermatitis.
Future Pipeline Development And Financial Position
Despite the setback in the EVO756 trial, Evommune will transition its primary focus toward advancing other clinical programs within its pipeline.
The company highlighted EVO301, an IL-18BP fusion protein that recently generated positive Phase 2a proof-of-concept data.
Management currently plans to initiate a Phase 2b trial for EVO301 in mid-2027.
Evommune confirmed that its current balance sheet remains strong, supporting corporate operations into 2029.
“EVO756 was generally well tolerated with a safety profile consistent with prior studies, supporting its continued evaluation in migraine prophylaxis,” said Eugene Bauer, Chief Medical Officer of Evommune.
Migraine Trial
In July, Evommune dosed the first patient in its Phase 2b trial of EVO756 for the prophylactic treatment of migraine. Topline data are anticipated in 2027.
The Phase 2b trial is evaluating EVO756 in adults with refractory migraine experiencing ≥6 migraine days per month.
Approximately 330 patients will be randomized across two active dose arms and placebo for 12 weeks of treatment. The trial is exploring daily doses of up to 100 mg.
Analyst View
“We are not surprised by the negative result in AD given the failure of EVO756 in CSU, which we believe had more mechanistic support for the MRGPRX2 targeting mechanism of action than AD,” William Blair wrote on Wednesday.
Analyst Matt Phipps maintains a Market Perform rating on Evommune shares.
EVMN Price Action: Evommune shares were down 10.55% at $11.70 during premarket trading on Wednesday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
