MannKind Corporation (NASDAQ:MNKD) shares are trading lower on Wednesday as traders react to the company’s entry into a licensing and collaboration deal tied to an inhaled, rapid-acting GLP-1 program.
GLP-1 Licensing Deal
MannKind and Rose Pharma, Inc. entered a licensing and collaboration agreement to develop an inhaled, rapid-acting GLP-1 receptor agonist that pairs Rose Pharma’s investigational molecule with MannKind’s Technosphere inhalation technology.
MannKind will receive an equity interest plus potential royalties.
Under the agreement, Rose Pharma received an exclusive, worldwide license to use MannKind’s Technosphere technology to develop and commercialize ROSE-010 Technosphere.
MannKind will support formulation development and advance the program through pharmaceutical development services through completion of Phase 1b in weight management.
MNKD Technical Analysis: Trend, Momentum And Key Support
From a trend perspective, the stock is sitting right on top of its short-term trend gauges, trading about 0.1% below both the 20-day SMA ($4.04) and 50-day SMA ($4.04).
That "stuck at the pivot" behavior often turns the next few sessions into a tug-of-war between dip buyers and sellers defending overhead supply.
The longer-term picture is still conflicted: shares are about 9% above the 100-day SMA ($3.70) but about 2.7% below the 200-day SMA ($4.15), keeping the stock in a choppy transition zone rather than a clean uptrend.
The death cross that formed in March (50-day falling below the 200-day) remains an overhang until price holds above the 200-day and pulls the longer averages higher.
Momentum is best described through RSI, which is neutral at 50.34—meaning the stock isn’t stretched to an overbought or oversold extreme and can move either way without "needing" a snapback.
In this setup, RSI near 50 usually confirms a range environment where levels matter more than momentum chasing.
- Key Resistance: $4.50 — a nearby round-number area where rebounds can stall, especially with the 200-day SMA close overhead
- Key Support: $3.50 — a nearby level where buyers previously stepped in, and a break would put more focus back on the lower end of the 52-week range
How MannKind Ranks On Momentum Versus The Market
Below is the Benzinga Edge scorecard for MannKind, highlighting its strengths and weaknesses compared to the broader market:
- Momentum: Bullish (Score: 75.82) — The stock is screening as relatively strong on momentum factors even as it chops around key moving averages.
The Verdict: Mannkind’s Benzinga Edge signal reveals a momentum-leaning setup, with the scorecard primarily supported by Momentum while other pillars aren’t provided.
For traders, that puts extra weight on whether price can reclaim and hold above the $4.15–$4.50 zone to confirm the momentum read-through.
