In a post on the social media platform X, Starlink’s official handle shared a video, touting the router’s new features. “The next-generation Starlink router brings faster peak speeds and coverage of up to 3,500 sq ft (325 m²),” the post said. Starlink touted the router as the “first Starlink router with a Wi-Fi 7 chipset,” adding that it would be available in select regions initially.
The router also allows users to connect up to 510 devices and features water-resistant port covers and two Ethernet ports, as well as an IP56 water-resistant rating. The router also features a factory reset button and offers better performance in congested areas.
Starlink at Half Off?
As SpaceX revealed its plans to construct a brand-new spaceport in Louisiana, called Starbase Louisiana, Musk said SpaceX would offer Starlink Residential service at half price to eligible residents near Starbase Louisiana, with the discount applying as long as their service address remains in the designated area.
Meanwhile, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is moving to unlock more than 1,000 MHz of spectrum for space-based communications, including satellite services, in the 12.7 GHz and 42 GHz bands, in what could prove to be a major boost for Starlink. The agency said it will be voting on the order on September 30.
Price Action: SpaceX shares were up 0.01% at $147.56 during premarket trading on Thursday.
