Video game players around the world are eagerly awaiting the release of "GTA 6" from Take-Two Interactive Software (NASDAQ:TTWO) in November. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has his eyes set on playing a different video game.

Sam Altman Ready for Nintendo Remake
Altman may not be known for his love of video games, but he made sure to share his fandom of the hit Nintendo (OTC:NTDOY) game "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time."
The original version of the game was released for the Nintendo 64 console back in 1998. The game went on to win a Guinness World Record for the most pre-orders and was the top-selling video game of 1998 and a top -10-selling title in 1999.
The game sold 2.5 million units in its first six weeks, totaling more than $150 million in revenue.
This Zelda game was the first to feature 3D gameplay and received perfect scores from a variety of gaming magazines and review sites. The game is considered one of the best ever released for a Nintendo console.
Nintendo announced it will be remaking the game for the Nintendo Switch 2 with a release date of Nov. 5, 2026.
Altman is one of many gamers ready for the remade version of the game that came out 28 years ago.
"Ocarina of time remake is the best news in a long time. I will be unavailable November 5 and 6; need to find a case of mountain dew," Altman tweeted.
The post indicates that Altman will take time off work to play the game on its release date.
A post from Altman could be a big win for Nintendo. The gaming company released the Switch 2 console back in June 2025. The console sold well initially, but has since lost some of its star power. A $50 price increase, taking the console to $499.99 earlier this month, could hurt future demand.
Nintendo has been announcing new games and remakes for the Switch 2 to get gamers and potentially investors excited.
Shares of Nintendo have fallen 24% year-to-date in 2026 and are down 45% over the last year.
Investors will likely hope Altman is not the only person excited about the Zelda remake, a game that could be the catalyst Nintendo needs heading into the holidays.
Time Off for Video Games?
Time will tell if Altman actually takes two days away from work at OpenAI to play the future video game.
Bad news for many employers around the U.S. is that fans of "GTA 6" could be taking record amounts of time off for the highly anticipated game.
Set to be released on Nov. 19, "GTA 6" is the first game in the franchise in 13 years, with fans eagerly awaiting the release after multiple delays.
A report from the Wall Street Journal says 1.5 million Americans could be taking at least one day off from work to play the game, with some fans saving up their time off to take days or weeks off around the game’s release.
