The Product Launch Event
At its event on September 9, Apple unveiled the iPhone Duo, described as the company’s first foldable iPhone featuring a breakthrough design intended to be both durable and versatile. The event also brought the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4, both featuring a new Health Sensing System that Apple says offers the most accurate heart rate sensing in a wearable, along with a new readiness score and Audio Intelligence features. Rounding out the announcements, Apple introduced AirPods 5, featuring open-ear Active Noise Cancellation, improved sound quality, hands-free Siri access and Live Translation.
Earlier Mac Announcements
Separately, on August 25, Apple introduced the new Mac Studio featuring the M5 Max and M5 Ultra chips, positioning it as the company’s most powerful desktop for on-device AI and demanding professional workflows, with up to 4.3x faster performance and up to 512GB of unified memory.
Apple also unveiled the new Mac mini with M6 and M5 Pro chips, delivering up to 4x faster AI performance in its compact form factor. The chips themselves — M6, Apple’s first 2-nanometer chip, and M5 Ultra, its first quad-die architecture — were introduced alongside those Mac updates as the company’s biggest leap yet in performance and AI compute.
