MARA Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ:MARA) stock is surging Friday, supported by a sharp rebound in Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) prices and a higher analyst price forecast. The Nasdaq is up 0.05% while the S&P 500 has shed 0.34%.

Bitcoin was trading at $80,997.20, up 6.09% over the past 24 hours. Meanwhile, Morgan Stanley maintained its Underweight rating on MARA but raised its price forecast to $11 on Friday.

Moreover, shares of crypto-linked companies are trading higher after the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission submitted a proposal Thursday to establish a regulatory framework for crypto asset transactions and markets. The move, along with announcements from the CFTC and U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Wednesday, signals continued regulatory action after the CLARITY Act failed to advance in the Senate, according to Benzinga Pro.

Technical Analysis

From a trend perspective, MARA is back in a constructive posture: it’s trading 11.7% above its 20-day SMA ($11.39) and 13.8% above its 50-day SMA ($11.18), which typically signals buyers are defending pullbacks. It’s also 16.2% above the 200-day SMA ($10.95), keeping the longer-term bias pointed upward even after a rough 12-month stretch (down 31.22%).

The moving-average structure supports that view, with the 20-day SMA above the 50-day SMA and a golden cross (50-day above 200-day) that occurred in June. That said, the stock is still working through overhead supply from earlier in the year, with a recent swing high logged in July and a swing low in August that traders will use as the near-term "range map."
