Monday was a great day if your name is Mark Zuckerberg or you own Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META) stock. Here’s how much, in dollars, Meta’s strong stock performance helped CEO Zuckerberg’s wealth grow.
Mark Zuckerberg’s Wealth Gains
Meta stock soared 11.4% to close at $741.24 on Monday, a move that was helped by the strength of the company’s recently released Muse AI personal agent.
With the stock movement, Zuckerberg added $27.3 billion to his wealth, increasing his net worth by 11.9% to $255.4 billion, according to Forbes.
Zuckerberg is the sixth-richest person in the world, but on Monday he outpaced all 10 of the top billionaires combined.
The other nine richest people in the world gained a combined $24.14 billion, less than the $27.3 billion Zuckerberg added to his own net worth.
Ranking second on the day was Larry Page, a Google co-founder, who added $5.2 billion to his net worth. Page ranks third with a net worth of $291 billion.
Monday’s gain wasn’t enough for Zuckerberg to join the top five richest, but it got him closer to Sergey Brin, who is worth $267.7 billion and rounds out the top five.
Meta Stock in the Spotlight
Meta stock could remain in the spotlight over the coming days. The launch of Muse, a personal AI agent to assist users with tasks and goals, has been well received. Muse is the most downloaded free iPhone app in the United States in recent days.
The social media and AI company is also set to host Meta Connect on Sept. 23 and Sept. 24, an event that will feature speeches from Meta executives and partners and could show investors where the company is headed in the future when it comes to AI and other growth areas.
