Jaguar Health Inc. (NASDAQ:JAGX) shares are plunging Wednesday morning as profit-taking reverses an explosive Tuesday rally sparked by regulatory fee waivers.

Low-Float Volatility and Profit-Taking

The sharp downward correction follows a sharp rally on Tuesday when the micro-cap biotech stock surged over 1,100% to close at $34.46 per share. The massive buying spike was initially triggered by news that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration granted a fiscal year 2027 Prescription Drug User Fee Act waiver for the firm’s lead gastrointestinal drug, Mytesi.

However, the extreme magnitude of the advance was severely amplified by structural capital changes, specifically a 1-for-15 reverse stock split executed on September 17, which restricted the public float to roughly 520,088 shares.

Dilution Risks and Cash Burn Realities

Underlying Wednesday’s sharp price reversal are persistent balance sheet pressures and imminent capital-raising risks. While the regulatory fee waiver provides modest cost relief for commercialized products, the business continues to contend with heavy cash burn, as detailed in its August 19 quarterly report showing a second-quarter net loss of $12.7 million alongside net prescription product revenues of just $1.2 million.

To address tight working capital and over $25 million in current liabilities, JAGX filed a Form 424B5 prospectus supplement on September 3, signaling an ongoing or upcoming secondary securities offering.
