COST Technical Analysis
Costco is trading below all major trend gauges, sitting 1.6% under its 20-day SMA and 6.4% below its 200-day SMA, which keeps the longer-term bias pointed lower. The 20-day SMA is below the 50-day SMA, and the 50-day SMA remains below the 200-day SMA — a Death Cross that formed in August and often signals that bounces may be corrective until price can reclaim those longer averages.

MACD is the cleaner momentum read right now: it’s below its signal line and the histogram is negative, which suggests upside pressure is cooling versus the prior upswing. In plain terms, when MACD is under its signal line, momentum is typically fading unless buyers can push price back into a stronger trend phase.
The chart also has clear reference points from the past year: a swing high in July and a swing low in September, with the 52-week high of $1,096.50 in May 2026 and the 52-week low of $844.06 in December 2025.
With the stock still down 4.96% over the past 12 months and below its longer-term averages, traders will often look for either a higher low to form — or a decisive breakdown that forces a new round of de-risking.
- Key Resistance: $978.50 — Nearby ceiling where rebounds can stall, sitting closer to the stock’s overhead moving-average zone.
- Key Support: $874 — Nearby floor near the lower end of the recent range, where buyers previously stepped in.
