Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:SPCX) CEO Elon Musk has reaffirmed that the company’s flagship rocket Starship will launch on Monday, September 28.
Starship Flight 14
On Sunday, the billionaire quoted a post by SpaceX that said the launch will take place on Monday at 7:15 a.m. Central Time from Starbase, Texas. “Starship Flight 14 aiming to launch tomorrow morning,” Musk said in his post.
The flight, which will be the rocket’s first orbital launch attempt after delays, will carry the first batch of Starlink‘s V3 Satellites, further bolstering Starlink’s more-than-11,000-satellite-strong constellation. Musk, on Sunday, reaffirmed his prediction that the Starlink service could go on to become the Earth’s de facto internet service.
Last month, SpaceX had announced it was winding down Falcon 9 Starlink launches from Florida’s Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, saying that the company will shift to Starship for Starlink launches from the East Coast. However, SpaceX said that it will continue regularly launching Starlink via the Falcon 9 from Vandenberg on the West Coast.
Starship Hourly Launches?
In a separate post on X, Musk responded to user Herber Ong, who said that the limiting factor to Starship’s launch cadence was not fueling but the turnaround time between launches. “Starship is 2 to 3 years away from hourly flights,” Musk said in his response.
Musk has also said SpaceX is aiming for more than 30 Starship launches per day in 2030, or roughly 10,000 annualized. In August, Musk said that Flight Test 14 could perform the first-ever mid-air catch of the rocket.
Price Action: SpaceX shares were up 0.20% to $148.97 during overnight trading.
