Cipher Digital Inc. (NASDAQ:CIFR) stock fell Monday due to systemic market weakness pulling down high-beta technology and infrastructure names.

Broad equity market selling pressure overwhelmed positive company-specific catalysts. The Nasdaq declined 1.29% and the S&P 500 shed 0.78%, while the technology sector lagged with a 1.3% loss.

Data Center Lease Extension

Cipher Digital stock gained Friday after the company extended the contracted life of its Barber Lake data center in Texas from 10 to 20 years. The agreements add approximately $5.2 billion in expected revenue, bringing total contracted revenue to over $9 billion.

Cipher amended an existing lease with Fluidstack and secured a binding commitment from a leading AI lab. The AI lab will lease the facility for another 10 years after the Fluidstack lease expires, maintaining economic terms that are substantially consistent with the existing agreement.

Technical Analysis

CIFR is trading below all its major moving averages, which keeps the longer-term trend pressure pointed down: about 1% below the 20-day SMA, 7.4% below the 50-day SMA, 17.9% below the 100-day SMA, and 8.2% below the 200-day SMA. That alignment matters because it suggests rebounds are still fighting overhead supply rather than building a clean uptrend.

Momentum is best framed through RSI, which is sitting at 48.45 — basically neutral — showing the stock isn’t stretched enough to be "oversold," but also isn’t showing strong upside thrust. RSI helps gauge whether recent buying or selling has become too one-sided, and this reading points to a market still deciding rather than trending hard.

The moving-average structure also carries a bearish backdrop: the 20-day SMA is below the 50-day SMA, and the Death Cross (50-day falling below the 200-day) that occurred in September remains in place. Zooming out, the chart’s key turning points — like the recent swing high in July and swing low in September — suggest the stock is still working through a post-peak consolidation after the 52-week high set in June.

  • Key Resistance: $20 — Round-number overhead area that also sits near the 200-day SMA/EMA zone, where rebounds can stall.
  • Key Support: $14.50 — Nearby floor that lines up with a prior buyer-defense area, making it a key level if selling accelerates.

CIFR Stock Price Activity: Cipher Digital shares were down 4.20% at $16.99 at the time of publication on Monday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
