U.S. stocks look set to open in the green on Wednesday, with futures of the Dow Jones, S&P 500, and Nasdaq 100 indices rising, following Tuesday’s lower close.

Before the opening bell, all eyes will be on the latest Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) price index, the Federal Reserve’s preferred inflation gauge, for fresh clues on the central bank’s next move.”

Geopolitical risks remain in focus as Iran’s Revolutionary Guard warned Americans of a "massive economic earthquake" if President Donald Trump continues the ongoing war and economic blockade.

At the same time, Trump firmly denied offering Tehran any sanctions relief, while defending his tolerance for North Korea’s nuclear weapons by describing Kim Jong Un as "a friend of mine."

Meanwhile, the 10-year Treasury bond yielded 5.21%, and the 2-year Treasury bond yielded 4.87%, at the last check. The CME Group’s FedWatch tool projections show markets pricing in a 44.8% likelihood of the Federal Reserve hiking interest rates after its October meeting.

Insights From Analysts

Professor Jeremy Siegel emphasized that the U.S. economy’s surprising strength is shifting investor focus toward surging real interest rates. With GDP growth estimates reaching up to 5%, Siegel observes, “This is a market repricing the strength of the real economy, not simply another inflation scare.” Consequently, he believes the Federal Reserve will need to consider additional rate hikes before year-end.

For the stock market, Siegel sees a clear tug-of-war ahead: “stronger earnings versus higher discount rates.” Real yields approaching 3% are creating serious competition for equities, but stocks remain remarkably resilient because economic strength boosts corporate profits. While he warns that rising financing costs complicate the case for small-cap and highly leveraged companies, he acknowledges that equities still provide solid protection from inflation.

Looking forward, Siegel highlights artificial intelligence as a transformative economic driver. By empowering consumers to effortlessly comparison shop and negotiate better rates, AI agents threaten to disrupt “inertial monopolies.” Ultimately, Siegel expects this technological shift to become an “important competitive, and disinflationary, force across the economy.”
