Airbnb Inc (NASDAQ:ABNB) shares are trading higher Wednesday after the company unveiled a suite of AI tools to assist with trip planning and customer support, along with new travel services and local amenities. Here’s what you should know.

Airbnb Adds Social Features and AI Throughout the Booking Process

Airbnb launched a new Connect feature that lets users link with people they know to see past trips, recommendations and upcoming travel plans, displayed on an interactive Travel Map with privacy settings controlling what gets shared. The company also added neighborhood pages summarizing an area’s character, activities and local host experiences.

Airbnb is separately weaving AI into trip planning at nearly every step, starting in the U.S. A new search bar accepts natural language or voice input, AI-powered filters surface related options instantly and listings now come with AI-generated descriptions. Users can compare wishlist homes side by side using AI summaries, and chat support now works in more than 50 languages, with voice support coming soon.

New Services and Host Tools Round Out the Announcement

Airbnb is also broadening its services lineup through the rest of the year, including meal delivery in select European cities, grocery delivery expanding into Europe, and laundry pickup through a partnership with Rinse in select U.S. cities. Starting in November, guests can rent baby gear across more than 60 U.S. cities through a partnership with BabyQuip. The company is also adding local gear rentals, including ski equipment in the French Alps and boats in South Florida.

On the host side, Airbnb plans to roll out several new AI-powered tools later this fall. A multi-listing calendar will let hosts update pricing and availability across listings at once. New 3D floor plans will help guests visualize a home before booking, dynamic pricing recommendations will adjust nightly rates automatically based on demand and an AI earnings dashboard will summarize performance and suggest next steps.
