Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) whales sold roughly $2.52 billion worth of BTC this week, while Ethereum (CRYPTO: ETH) whales bought in and XRP (CRYPTO: XRP) whales sat still.
What Whale Wallets Are Doing Right Now
Widely-followed crypto analyst Ali Martinez posted on X that Bitcoin whale holdings fell by roughly 30,000 BTC this week, worth about $2.52 billion, pointing to large holders trimming exposure.
Ethereum told the opposite story, with whales adding roughly 60,000 ETH over the same stretch, worth around $162 million.
Meanwhile, XRP whales barely moved at all, holding steady near 3.90 billion tokens with no meaningful change.
“That divergence is worth watching as the market searches for its next direction,” Ali Martinez wrote.
What the ETF Flow Data Shows
Bitcoin ETFs also broke a nine-day inflow streak Tuesday, posting a $148.69 million outflow after pulling in roughly $3.08 billion across the prior nine sessions according to SoSoValue.
Demand had already been slowing before the reversal, with daily inflows dropping from $998.95 million on Sept. 21 to just $31.07 million on Sept. 28.
The selling concentrated heavily in one fund: Fidelity’s FBTC (BATS:FBTC) accounted for $125.58 million, or 84.5% of the total outflow.
Ethereum ETFs saw a sharper reversal too. A seven-day, $850.78 million inflow streak ended Sept. 29, followed by outflows totaling $62.39 million.
ETH’s daily outflow equaled roughly 0.34% of its net assets, compared to just 0.14% for Bitcoin, meaning Ethereum ETFs actually faced heavier relative selling pressure despite whales buying the token directly.
However, XRP ETFs told a steadier story, with a five-day, $79.56 million inflow streak ending in two zero-flow sessions, though XRP has now gone eight straight sessions without a net outflow.
