U.S. stocks traded lower this morning, with the Dow Jones index falling over 200 points on Thursday.
The Dow traded down 0.42% to 50,693.86 while the NASDAQ fell 0.09% to 26,837.36. The S&P 500 also fell, dropping, 0.17% to 7,638.28.
Leading and Lagging Sectors
Energy shares jumped by 1.3% on Thursday.
In trading on Wednesday, materials stocks fell by 1.2%.
Top Headline
Micron Technology Inc (NASDAQ:MU) reported upbeat financial results for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026, after the closing bell on Wednesday.
Micron posted fourth-quarter revenue of $54.23 billion, beating analyst estimates of $50.75 billion, according to Benzinga Pro. The semiconductor company reported adjusted earnings of $33.42 per share, beating estimates of $31.45 per share.
Equities Trading UP
- Nexalin Technology Inc (NASDAQ:NXL) shares shot up 90% to $8.14 as the company signed a 10-year exclusive distribution deal with Inovanexa Medical Technologies covering seven Latin American markets.
- Shares of Stablecoin Development Corp (NYSE:SDEV) got a boost, surging 60% to $4.15.
- Veea Inc (NASDAQ:VEEA) shares were also up, gaining 44% to $3.14 after the company announced an agreement with TROLLEE Holdings for the phased deployment of VeeaONE solutions across 1,000 unattended stores.
Equities Trading DOWN
- Corteva Inc (NYSE:CTVA) shares dipped 84% to $12.62 after the company completed the spin-off of its advanced seed and genetics business Vylor.
- Shares of NewGenIvf Group Ltd (NASDAQ:NIVF) were down 38% to $0.10. NewGen announced the closing of $1.25 million public offering.
- Foghorn Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:FHTX) was down, falling 33% to $2.38 after the company and Lilly decided not to advance FHD-909 into the expansion phase and discontinued their SMARCA2 degrader collaboration.
Commodities
In commodity news, oil traded up 2% to $92.23 while gold traded up 0.2% at $4,195.30.
Silver traded up 1.1% to $61.215 on Thursday, while copper fell 0.7% to $6.5760.
Euro zone
European shares were lower today. The eurozone’s STOXX 600 declined 1.1%, while Spain’s IBEX 35 Index fell 1.7%, London’s FTSE 100 fell 1.6%, Germany’s DAX fell 0.8%, while France’s CAC 40 dipped 1.4%.
Asia Pacific Markets
Asian markets closed mixed on Thursday, with Japan’s Nikkei 225 jumping 3.3%, and India’s BSE Sensex falling 0.79%.
Economics
- The ISM manufacturing PMI declined to 54.5 in September from 54.6 in August, versus market estimates of 55.
- Construction spending increased by 0.9% month-over-month to an annual rate of $2,203 billion in August versus a revised 0.1% decrease in July.
- The S&P Global manufacturing PMI declined to 55.9 in September versus a preliminary reading of 57.0.
- U.S. jobless claims fell by 1,000 to 197,000 in the week ended Sept. 26, down from market estimates of 200,000.
