GE Vernova Inc. (NYSE:GEV) shares are trading higher Thursday afternoon as investors assess several major commercial and regulatory developments announced during September.

Here’s what investors need to know.

Offshore Settlement and International Services Expansion

On September 16, GE Vernova resolved outstanding commercial litigation regarding the Vineyard Wind offshore project through an amicable settlement. The agreement removes a significant legal and operational overhang surrounding the company’s wind segment following turbine blade failures in July 2024, paving the way for stabilized segment margins as installation activity resumes on the 800-megawatt offshore facility.

Building on its international services footprint, on September 23, the energy giant secured a key services contract with the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company to provide Rotor Life Extension solutions across five utility gas turbines in Egypt.

The long-term agreement extends the operational lifespan and reliability of North Africa’s power grid while expanding GE Vernova’s high-margin services backlog, which provides predictable recurring cash flows alongside core equipment sales.

Regulatory Breakthrough for Advanced Nuclear Power

Operational momentum accelerated late in the month with a major regulatory milestone. On September 29, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission issued its first domestic construction permit for a BWRX-300 small modular reactor to the Tennessee Valley Authority at its Clinch River site in Tennessee.

“Fleet deployment is essential to scaling nuclear energy in the United States,” said Jason Cooper, Chief Executive Officer of GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy. “A standard design, combined with a predictable and efficient regulatory environment, allows us to apply common technology, licensing experience, supply chain capabilities and lessons learned from one project to the next. Clinch River brings us another step closer to making that fleet model a reality,” Cooper added.
