Headcount Reductions and Restructuring Initiatives
Reports indicated that Disney plans to cut several hundred jobs spanning its human resources and technology operations. The headcount reductions follow notable executive leadership turnover under Chief Executive Officer Josh D’Amaro, who assumed the top role in March.
The latest cuts build upon prior organizational streamlining, including approximately 1,000 role eliminations in April and 7,000 position cuts executed in 2023 under former Chief Executive Officer Bob Iger as part of a $5.5 billion cost-reduction program.
Wall Street Outlook and Fourth-Quarter Preview
Analysts have released updated outlooks ahead of Disney’s fiscal fourth-quarter financial report scheduled for November 12.
BofA Securities analyst Jessica Reif Ehrlich reaffirmed a Buy rating and $125 price target, citing resilient theme park attendance and new cruise ship deployments, even as theatrical box office softness weighs on Entertainment results.
Ehrlich projected fiscal 2027 revenue of $105 billion and earnings of $7.52 per share, while raising her operating income estimate to $20.8 billion. Broader Wall Street consensus remains a Buy with an average price target of $126 across 24 tracking analysts.
