U.S. stocks traded higher this morning, with the Dow Jones index gaining more than 300 points on Friday.

The Dow traded up 0.63% to 51,246.54 while the NASDAQ jumped 1.74% to 27,338.20. The S&P 500 also rose, gaining, 1.07% to 7,748.68.

Leading and Lagging Sectors

Consumer discretionary shares jumped by 1.9% on Friday.

In trading on Friday, energy stocks fell by 1.1%.

Top Headline

The U.S. economy added 29,000 nonfarm payrolls in September, well below the 90,000 economists had expected, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said Friday.

The unemployment rate came in at 4.2%, above the 4.1% consensus. Average hourly earnings rose 0.1% month over month, versus 0.3% expected, and 3% year over year, versus 3.2% expected.

Equities Trading UP
           

  • Alpha Modus Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:AMOD) shares shot up 226% to $3.81 after the company said it closed a bitcoin-funded private placement and regained Nasdaq listing compliance.
  • Shares of Stablecoin Development Corp (NYSE:SDEV) got a boost, surging 75% to $6.42.
  • Xiao-I Corp (NASDAQ:AIXI) shares were also up, gaining 51% to $1.84.

Equities Trading DOWN

  • Amaze Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:AMZE) shares dipped 41% to $0.0746. Amaze Holdings recently announced a binding letter of intent to acquire the assets of BullionFX for stock valued at $155 million.
  • Shares of Nexalin Technology Inc (NASDAQ:NXL) were down 29% to $5.33. Nexalin Technology recently announced signing of a 10-year exclusive distribution agreement covering Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay, Ecuador and Venezuela.
  • SMX (Security Matters) PLC (NASDAQ:SMX) was down, falling 29% to $4.39. On Thursday, the Dublin-based technology company, which provides molecular marking and blockchain-enabled traceability solutions, announced that its trueGold platform can embed an invisible molecular marker in gold.

Commodities

In commodity news, oil traded down 4.8% to $88.46 while gold traded up 0.3% at $4,213.80.

Silver traded up 0.9% to $61.705 on Friday, while copper rose 0.9% to $6.5980.

Euro zone

European shares were higher today. The eurozone’s STOXX 600 jumped 0.9%, while Spain’s IBEX 35 Index rose 0.6%, London’s FTSE 100 rose 0.6%, Germany’s DAX climbed 1.4%, while France’s CAC 40 gained 1%.

Asia Pacific Markets

Asian markets closed lower on Friday, with Japan’s Nikkei 225 falling 0.94% and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index dipping 2.6%.
