A cooler-than-expected jobs report just handed tech stocks a record.

The Nasdaq 100 — tracked by the Invesco QQQ Trust (NASDAQ:QQQ) — rose 1.3% to about 30,957 points by 10:16 a.m. ET on Friday, above its Sept. 22 record close of 30,732.40.

The tech-heavy index is now up 22.4% in 2026.

The U.S. economy added just 29,000 jobs in September, the Labor Department said. Economists had expected 90,000. August was also revised down to 133,000 from 162,000.

Traders reacted quickly. Markets now price an 18% chance of an October Fed rate hike, down from nearly 70% a week ago, according to the CME FedWatch tool.
