Rocket Lab (NASDAQ:RKLB) stock is rising Friday amid a broader rally in space stocks. On Wednesday, the company announced a multi-year agreement to launch 20 Electron missions for Tokyo-based Earth observation company Synspective. Electron is Rocket Lab’s small-lift rocket. The Nasdaq is up 0.93%, the S&P 500 has gained 0.53%, and industrials are up 0.58%.
The agreement is the largest commercial launch contract in Electron’s history. It brings Synspective’s total to 47 missions, the most of any Rocket Lab launch customer. The company did not disclose the remaining terms.
Launch Schedule and Satellites
Rocket Lab will launch 20 StriX synthetic aperture radar satellites to sun-synchronous orbit from Launch Complex 1. The missions are scheduled annually from 2028 through 2031. Synspective aims to build a constellation that can image any location on Earth within hours, day or night, in any weather.
Rocket Lab said the deal is the latest in a series of multi-launch contracts this year, pushing its launch backlog beyond 100 missions.
Technical Analysis
RKLB is back above its shorter-term trend gauges, trading about 9% above the 20-day SMA ($67.81) and about 6% above the 50-day SMA ($69.76), which often signals improving near-term demand. The bigger-picture trend is still mixed, though, with the stock trading about 15% below the 100-day SMA ($87.01) and about 9% below the 200-day SMA ($81.41), so bulls still have overhead work to do.
The moving-average structure still carries some caution flags because the 20-day SMA remains below the 50-day SMA, and the 50-day SMA is below the 200-day SMA (a "death cross" that formed in August). That said, with a swing low in July and a swing high in August, traders are watching whether this rebound can become a more durable base rather than another rally that fades under longer-term resistance.
- Key Resistance: $75.50 — a nearby pivot where rallies can stall, sitting just above the current price zone
- Key Support: $61 — an area where buyers previously stepped in, offering a reference point if the current breakout attempt fails
RKLB Stock Price Activity: Rocket Lab shares were up 6.29% at $74.89 at the time of publication on Friday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
