Redwire Corporation (NYSE:RDW) shares are trading lower on Monday. The company secured a contract from Axiom Space to develop and deliver two Roll-Out Solar Array (ROSA) wings for the second module of Axiom Station.
The company’s Space President Mike Gold said the ROSA system’s track record aboard the International Space Station makes it well suited to provide power for Axiom Space’s commercial space station.
He noted that ROSA has achieved a 100% success rate across missions in low-Earth orbit (LEO), geostationary orbit (GEO) and other space environments.
Redwire aims to use the technology to support Axiom Space’s microgravity research, development and manufacturing activities.
Notably, the contract expands Redwire’s role in supporting Axiom Space’s next-generation commercial space infrastructure.
Solar Arrays for Axiom Space’s First Space Station Module
In September 2025, Redwire won a contract from Axiom Space to develop and deliver roll-out solar array (ROSA) wings for Axiom Station’s Payload Power Thermal Module (AxPPTM), the first module of its planned commercial space station.
AxPPTM is expected to launch toward the end of 2027 and initially berth with the International Space Station before separating and rendezvousing with Habitat 1 in orbit.
Axiom Space plans to add an airlock, Habitat 2 and a Research and Manufacturing Facility as part of the station’s assembly sequence.
The approach is expected to enable Axiom Station to operate as an independent free-flying station as early as 2028 and expand into a four-module station by 2030, supporting a continuous U.S. human presence in low-Earth orbit after the ISS retires.
