Robinhood Markets Inc.‘s (NASDAQ:HOOD) Chief Investment Officer Steph Guild argued that owning individual energy stocks instead of ETFs could be beneficial for investors.
EOG Resources, Diamondback Energy on Guild’s List?
Speaking at an appearance on “Full Signal with Phil Rosen” on Tuesday, Guild was asked about investment opportunities that she thought were interesting in the market, to which she responded that she liked owning a “hedge in the energy space,” but not holding the “same stocks” over extended time periods.
Guild also said that the firm held ExxonMobil Holdings Corp (NYSE:XOM), but it sold its position to invest in EOG Resources Inc. (NYSE:EOG).
“This is not a recommendation,” Guild reiterated during her appearance. She then said that the firm was “always looking at where the next opportunity is within the space.”
She then outlined that investing in Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) was not something she would do, as it was “done” and that the funds were “up so much this year.” Guild then pointed to “interesting opportunities” in the sector.
“Diamondback is one that I like a lot,” she said, adding that it was “not a recommendation” and that the company was “doing interesting things.”
