Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:SPCX) CEO Elon Musk and other leading tech executives will reportedly receive the nation’s highest honors for scientific and technological achievement from President Donald Trump on Thursday.
White House Summit to Honor Tech Leaders
Trump will award the National Medal of Science to Musk, Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) co-founder Sergey Brin, Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ:NVDA) CEO Jensen Huang, and Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) CEO Lisa Su, Fox News Digital reported on Wednesday.
Dell Technologies Inc. (NYSE:DELL) CEO Michael Dell and Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:MSFT) CEO Satya Nadella will receive the National Medal of Technology and Innovation.
The awards will be presented at the White House’s Science: A New Golden Age Summit. It will be the first time Trump has presented either medal in either of his administrations.
“The Trump administration is grateful for the contributions of these incredible leaders in science and technology. These recipients are helping ensure America keeps leading the world in innovation,” White House spokesperson Liz Huston told Fox News.
The White House did not immediately respond to Benzinga’s request for comment.
Musk’s Money, Dell’s Pledge
Musk spent close to $250 million backing Trump’s 2024 campaign, then split with him last year after calling Trump’s tax-and-spending bill a “disgusting abomination.”
The two have since renewed ties, and Musk co-leads the Pentagon’s Project Meridian, which studies the future of warfare.
According to a July report by The New York Times, Musk plans to spend $100 million to $120 million backing at least eight GOP candidates in the midterms.
Huang donated to Trump’s White House ballroom.
Dell has pledged $6.25 billion to fund accounts for 25 million children under Trump’s accounts program. AMD has also contributed to the effort.
AI Leaders Signed on to Trump’s Safety Pledge
Last month, Trump hosted AI and tech leaders at the White House for the Accord on Super Intelligence, a voluntary safety pact calling for independent audits, stronger internal controls, and board-level oversight of advanced AI systems.
