U.S. stocks traded lower this morning, with the Dow Jones index falling over 100 points on Thursday.

Following the market opening Thursday, the Dow traded down 0.26% to 51,044.44 while the NASDAQ declined 0.48% to 27,406.95. The S&P 500 also fell, dropping, 0.33% to 7,776.25.

Leading and Lagging Sectors

Energy shares jumped by 2% on Thursday.

In trading on Thursday, information technology stocks fell by 0.7%.

Top Headline

U.S. initial jobless claims fell by 2,000 to 197,000 in the week ending Oct. 3, compared to market estimates of 200,000.

Equities Trading UP
           

  • Fly-E Group Inc (NASDAQ:FLYE) shares shot up 129% to $2.91.
  • Shares of Xiao-I Corp (NASDAQ:AIXI) got a boost, surging 67% to $2.21.
  • Jianzhi Education Tclgy Grp Co Ltd – ADR (NASDAQ:JZ) shares were also up, gaining 49% to $0.70.

Equities Trading DOWN

  • China SXT Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:SXTC) shares dipped 87% to $0.38 after the company announced a $12 million registered direct offering.
  • Shares of Sunshine Biopharma Inc (NASDAQ:SBFM) were down 37% to $0.44 after the company announced the pricing of its $6 million offering of 10,909,083 units at $0.55 per unit.
  • Medicus Pharma Ltd (NASDAQ:MDCX) was down, falling 29% to $0.11 after the company announced a 50-for-1 stock split.

Commodities

In commodity news, oil traded up 4.8% to $92.48 while gold traded up 0.1% at $4,144.20.

Silver traded down 1.7% to $59.250 on Thursday, while copper fell 0.3% to $6.6310.

Euro zone

European shares were mostly lower today. The eurozone’s STOXX 600 fell 0.5%, while Spain’s IBEX 35 Index dipped 0.4%, London’s FTSE 100 rise 0.1%, Germany’s DAX declined 0.8%, while France’s CAC 40 slipped 0.3%.

Asia Pacific Markets

Asian markets closed lower on Thursday, with Japan’s Nikkei 225 falling 1.42%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index declining 1.43%, China’s SSE Composite Index dropping 0.79% and India’s BSE Sensex dropping 1.44%.

Economics
