GameStop Corp. (NYSE:GME) shares are rising Monday to a fresh 52-week high. Here’s what you need to know.
- GameStop shares are testing new highs. What’s behind GME new highs?
Monday’s trading range of $26.82 to $27.02 clears the old 52-week high of $26.88, set May 1. Over the past year, GameStop has ranged from a low of $17.79. The stock has gained around 27%.
Insider Buying Keeps Investors Interested in GameStop
On Thursday, October 8, GameStop jumped more than 4% while investors digested a run of insider purchases and eyed a looming warrant deadline. The Nasdaq lost 1.59% and the S&P 500 dropped 0.67% that day, so GameStop outpaced the market.
CEO Ryan Cohen spent about $17.1 million on 700,000 shares on October 2, after making several multimillion-dollar purchases in September. Nat Turner, a director, picked up 10,462 shares on October 1, and Lawrence Cheng, another director, bought 55,000 shares in September. Such buying can reflect management’s faith in the company’s long-term path, but it offers no guarantee of future gains.
In October 2025, GameStop issued warrants to eligible shareholders, one per 10 shares owned on the record date. Each warrant gives its holder the right to buy a common share at $32 until it expires October 30. With the stock still under $32, using a warrant costs more than simply buying shares in the market. Warrants still unused on October 30 become worthless, and the nearing cutoff could pull in more trading.
GameStop Stock Presses Into Key Resistance
The stock last changed hands just below the $27.00 resistance level, with support sitting at $22.50. The rally followed a slide from the May 1 high to the August 20 low of $17.79.
Monday’s gain places shares over their 20-day average of $24.13, 50-day average of $20.98 and 200-day average of $22.36. The 20-day line sits above the 50-day, but the 50-day still trails the 200-day. That combination signals firmer short-term momentum inside a longer-term downtrend.
