U.S. stocks traded lower this morning, with the Dow Jones index falling more than 300 points on Monday.
Following the market opening Monday, the Dow traded down 0.61% to 53,232.50 while the NASDAQ slipped 0.45% to 26,282.51. The S&P 500 also fell, dropping, 0.48% to 7,675.08.
Leading and Lagging Sectors
Energy shares jumped by 2% on Monday.
In trading on Monday, communication services stocks fell by 1.7%.
Top Headline
Science Applications International Corporation (NASDAQ:SAIC) shares jumped around 7% on Monday after the company reported better-than-expected second-quarter financial results and raised its FY27 guidance.
SAIC reported quarterly earnings of $3.01 per share which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $2.31 per share. The company reported quarterly sales of $1.880 billion which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $1.766 billion.
Equities Trading UP
- Collplant Biotechnologies Ltd – ADR (NASDAQ:CLGN) shares shot up 97% to $0.71 as the company announced a deal to acquire a photonic computing firm LightSolver Ltd.
- Shares of Vivos Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:VVOS) got a boost, surging 81% to $0.41 after declining 13% on Friday.
- Wetour Robotics Ltd (NASDAQ:WETO) shares were also up, gaining 79% to $10.26 after dipping 50% on Friday. Wetour Robotics recently announced it entered into an agreement with Rodman & Renshaw to sell up to $75 million of shares.
Equities Trading DOWN
- FingerMotion Inc (NASDAQ:FNGR) shares dropped 35% to $0.26, giving back some of Friday’s gains after the company unveiled plans to expand into AI-focused data centers.
- Shares of Jupiter Neurosciences Inc (NASDAQ:JUNS) were down 28% to $3.00 after dipping 15% on Friday. Jupiter Neurosciences recently announced pricing of $2.0 million registered direct offering.
- Wheeler Real Estate Investment Trust Inc (NASDAQ:WHLR) was down, falling 26% to $0.79.
Commodities
In commodity news, oil traded up 3.7% to $86.46 while gold traded down 0.6% at $4,503.70.
Silver traded up 0.2% to $67.92 on Monday, while copper rose 0.4% to $6.6870.
Euro zone
European shares were mixed today. The eurozone’s STOXX 600 slipped 0.1%, while Spain’s IBEX 35 Index rose 0.4%, London’s FTSE 100 rose 0.3%, Germany’s DAX dipped 0.7%, while France’s CAC 40 rose 0.1%.
Asia Pacific Markets
Asian markets closed mostly lower on Monday, with Japan’s Nikkei 225 falling 0.14%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index declining 0.07%, China’s Shanghai Composite gaining 0.86% and India’s BSE Sensex falling 0.40%.
Economics
The Dallas Fed manufacturing index will be released today.
