Intel Corp. (NASDAQ:INTC) stock fell on Monday as higher Treasury yields, caution around artificial intelligence risks and profit-taking weighed on the chip maker. The stock had risen 28.42% over the past month before the decline. The Nasdaq is down 1.35% while the S&P 500 has shed 0.84% and Technology is also in the red with a 1.3% loss.

Treasury Yields Reach Highest Level Since 2007

The 10-year Treasury yield rose to 5.25%, its highest since June 2007. Traders put the odds of a second straight Federal Reserve rate hike at 70.3%. “It’s real rates that have moved up more than the inflation expectations,” Cleveland Fed President Beth Hammack said on Friday. A real yield is what a bond pays after expected inflation.

Oil And Inflation Data Ahead

West Texas Intermediate crude rose nearly 4% to $95.89 a barrel on Monday, after President Donald Trump rejected Iran’s proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days. August PCE inflation data arrives Wednesday, and September payrolls follow on Friday.

On Monday, Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ:NVDA) introduced software aimed at preventing AI agents from breaching containment. Nvidia listed Intel among its partners. CEO Jensen Huang said AI’s potential depends on addressing safety challenges.

Technical Analysis

Even with Monday’s drop, the longer-term trend remains upward: the stock is trading 44.4% above its 200-day SMA ($79.57) and remains above its 20-day SMA ($105.81) and 50-day SMA ($99.45). The 20-day SMA is also above the 50-day SMA, and the 50-day SMA is above the 200-day SMA—two bullish crossover signals that typically show an uptrend is intact unless price starts losing those faster averages.

For momentum, MACD is the cleaner read right now: it’s above its signal line and the histogram is positive, which suggests downside pressure is easing versus the prior downswing even if price is choppy day to day. From a levels standpoint, $126.50 is the nearby area to watch on rebounds, while $98.50 is the key downside line that would put the stock back near its 50-day area and shift the tone from "pullback" to "trend damage."

  • Key Resistance: $126.50 — a nearby pivot zone where rebounds can stall after the recent run-up
  • Key Support: $98.50 — a prior buyer-defense area that sits close to the stock’s intermediate trend zone

INTC Stock Price Activity: Intel shares are trading lower by 5.37% at $116.39 at the time of publication on Monday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
